Top 5 Unusual Coffee Recipes
Coffee certainly isn’t just for drinking – it is in fact much more versatile than you might think. If you love coffee just as much as we do, then you will be happy to know that there are a lot of weird and wonderful coffee recipes out there that incorporate our favourite pleasure. UK-based supplier of commercial office coffee machines, Logic Vending, list a few of their favourites.
You have probably never thought of incorporating coffee into your usual chilli con carne recipe, but you’d be surprised at how adding just half a teaspoon of coffee really brings out the flavour of the chilli. The bitter ‘kick’ of the bean provides a great contrast with the regular sweetness of the other ingredients, making this a nice little twist on a dinnertime classic. A chilli con carne is also fairly cheap, quick to prepare and easy on the waistline. You really can’t go wrong with this one!

For those of us who are not morning people, there is nothing more we look forward to post-alarm than our usual caffeine fix. Instead of making an instant coffee or popping into your local Starbucks before heading into the office, break the routine and try whipping up your own coffee smoothie. This drink perfectly combines the need for an early morning ‘pick-me-up’ with the desire for something healthy and nutritious to get us moving. All you need is a few simple ingredients, some ice and a blender.

Coffee does not always need to be consumed hot in order to reap its various benefits. On a hot summer’s day there are certainly few things more refreshing than grabbing an ice lolly and kicking back and relaxing in the park or your back garden. Mocha popsicles are extremely quick and easy to make and provide a nice alternative to an ice cream. Because who doesn’t love coffee AND chocolate?

- Espresso Martini with a Twist
As a caffeine lover, your favourite cocktail probably already incorporates coffee within it somewhere. There are many alternatives to the classic espresso martini out there, but this heavenly, indulgent twist is definitely our favourite. Salted caramel is all the rage right now and with good reason – it simply is delicious. If you haven’t tried it yet, then now is as good a time as any.

You might be reading this thinking the world has officially gone mad, but believe it or not, coffee smoked bacon is something delivered by the gods. Amongst the things that we Brits sure do love, it’s a good bacon sarnie. In effect, bacon marinated in coffee does not actually bring out too much of a strong caffeine flavour. Instead, it strikes a perfect balance between sweet, smoky and salty, making this recipe a fantastic, unconventional alternative that will help cure your hangover in no time.
